Services at West Suffolk Hospital’s Chapel will become more musical thanks to the donation of a baby grand piano.

It was given to the hospital by Clive Young, the bishop of Dunwich following his retirement. He offered the piano to a new home free of charge, with the hospital chaplaincy lucky enough to have its name pulled from the hat.

The piano was moved to the hospital from the bishop’s house in Ipswich last Wednesday.

Lorraine Dawson, assistant chaplain at the hospital, said: “We are very grateful to the bishop for his generous donation, and to Wyards Removals who helped transport thepiano.

“We are currently recruiting new volunteers to serve in the chaplaincy and any willing musicians would be very welcome.”
