A health and safety scheme at the Biffa recycling depot in Bury St Edmunds has raised £2,512.22 for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Each day the site goes without a health and safety accident, Biffa adds £5 to a pot for the depot’s chosen charity. At the end of each quarter, if there has not been any health and safety accidents, a further 20 per cent bonus is added.

Scott Evans, Biffa regional general manager presented the cheque to Abby Mayes, of St Nicholas Hospice Care.

“Health and safety is extremely important to Biffa. The incentive scheme aims to encourage employees to take an active interest in safety management and further reduce the possibility of accidents at work,” he said.
