There have been a lot of second glances this month as people all over the country have been growing and grooming their facial hair.
This is the month of Movember the annual charity event which sees moustaches and beards grown and shaved in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
Our own Bury Free Press team have been cultivating their moustachios in aid of the Beat It appeal for a prostate cancer probe at West Suffolk Hospital and some are eagerly awaiting Sunday when they can enjoy a good shave.
Meanwhile teams from local companies have been growing their taches as well. Staff at Helmsman Lockers in Northern Way and employees from Premier Bodyworks have been changing their looks over the past three weeks.
Fifteen members of staff at Premier now nicknamed ‘Premihair’ have grown moistahces and two of the women in the office are sporting bright pink moustaches.
Nick Dawson, sales director said: “It’s a worthwhile cause and it’s all been taken in good spirit, and the girls in the office get lots of laughs.” The team had raised £450 by Tuesday morning and are hoping to reach £1,000.
At Helmsman more than 25 members of staff have been taking part in Movember as the Helmsman Pirates and had raised £400 at the start of the week which the company has promised to match,
Jackie Young, team captain nicknamed ‘Mosista’, said: “We are so pleased with the take up from the employees even our sales director and finance manager are taking part. We do try and help out where we can by supporting charities and we recently provided lockers for the Children in Need DIYSOS big build programme for the Little Miracles development in Peterborough.
