TO get close to a torch sprint to Bury St Edmunds McDonald’s on Sunday.

McDonald’s shift manager Andy McGowan is carrying the torch in Newmarket tomorrow and offering the chance to have a picture taken with it in the restaurant on Sunday between 2pm and 4pm. A photographer from Bury Photography is donating his time, but you can take your own pictures.

Andy is doing it to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, which build homes near hospitals for parents with sick children to stay in. Andy, began his support after staying in a similar facility while his father was in hospital. “It made such a difference because I didn’t have to commute,” he said.

He was nominated as a torch bearer for his work with young carers.
