A woman and her niece from Bury St Edmunds are celebrating their 6th and 1st birthdays today - as they were both born on a leap year day.
Incredibly Georgia Curry, 19, and her niece Bonnie, three, were both born on February 29 meaning they only get to officially blow out their birthday candles once every four years.
Bonnie’s mum Sinead said the family were having a birthday get-together to celebrate with family and friends.
“Bonnie was meant to be born on March 4 but came early - we were so shocked,” she said.
“The pair are oddly alike as well. When Georgia was growing up how she acted very like Bonnie.
“Whether it’s because they were born on the same day I just don’t know.”
Georgia said: “It was weird being born on a leap day at first but I am used to it now.
“Then when Bonnie was born on the same day it was quite a surprise.”
