Fund-raising swimmers completed as many lengths as they could in 45 minutes in an annual charity challenge organised by Bury St Edmunds Rotary Club.

Twelve teams with 72 participants took the plunge in the Swimarathon at Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre with some managing more than 100 lengths.

The event is on track to match last year’s fund-raising total of £7,000 with three quarters going to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and the rest to the club’s charity fund which benefits local causes.

The teams included Ixworth Free School, County Upper, Moreton Hall Prep and St Louis Middle Schools as well as company CML. Two other schools are due to hold their own supporting events.
