THREE men are preparing for the journey of a lifetime as they get set to cycle 1,000 miles for charity.

Nick Mills and Richard Youngman, from Bury St Edmunds, and Ian Lewis, from Great Finborough, will embark on their epic journey from The Chestnut Horse, in Great Finborough, on September 17.

The journey will take them eight days to complete, reaching Toulon, in France, on September 25.

The trio have already raised £8,000 and are aiming to hit £10,000 in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich.

Nick said that they started cycling at weekends to keep fit. “We then decided to go a bit further and to do it for a good cause,” he said. They chose the hospice which had taken care of Ian’s dad who died in 2009.
