A GROUP of dedicated fund-raisers have presented a school on Moreton Hall with a cheque for £10,000.
The Friends of Abbots Green started fund-raising in March last year, with the target of raising £10,000 for the primary school to put towards new IT equipment.
Mark Foort, Friends treasurer, said: “The committee are very proud of the fact that we have managed to reach this target in the space of one year. We would like to thank anyone who has supported any of our events, we really do appreciate the help this gives us,”
The money was raised through a host of activities including an auction of promises, summer and Christmas fayres and a comedy night, which totalled more than £6,700, and Suffolk county councillor Trevor Beckwith donated £2,000 from his locality budget.
The funds were then topped up by the school community with dress down days, online shopping using Easyfundraising, ‘Phil’ the bag clothes recycling, coffee mornings, a car boot sale, school discos, a fashion show by the pupils and Christmas card sales.
Headteacher Heidi Franklin said: “We are extremely appreciative of how committed and enthusiastic the Friends of Abbots Green have been in supporting the school to raise such a phenomenal amount of money.”
