A FORMER Anglia Newspapers reporter is making a daring leap of faith to raise money for Help For Heroes.
Bron Madson, 46, from Ely is to take part in a skydive with the Army’s Red Devils on July 3.
Money raised will go to Destination Dubai 2012 (DD2012) – an epic 6,000-mile motorbike ride from the UK to Dubai by three former soldiers in aid of Help for Heroes, the charity for wounded service personnel.
Leading the DD2012 challenge is Goeff Warren, 44, a former soldier who grew up in Thetford and is a former Thetford Grammar School pupil.
Bron is part of the DD2012 support team and will be travelling with the ex-soldiers. As a former military wife, she also knows first hand how the tragedies of war and conflict impacts on families.
“Skydiving is one of those things I have always thought I would like to do, but I’ve never been able to overcome my nerves.
“Doing a tandem jump with the Red Devils does make me feel a bit safer, but the real incentive is knowing that all the money raised will help wounded service personnel and their families.”
Bron’s mum, Rita Hodgson, 73, of Girton Close, Mildenhall, said: “As a mum I can’t help but worry about what Bron is doing, but I know she likes a challenge and it is all in aid of a great charity.”
People can donate online at www.bmycharity/destinationdubai2012 or by texting DD2012 to 70900. You will be charged £5 plus your standard network rate (a minimum of £5 will go to H4H).
