A former lady’s maid, known for her sense of humour, sociable nature and taking it all in her stride, has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Ivy Whiting, who moved to Ixworth Court care home, in Peddars Close, Ixworth after living independently in Wickham Market, marked her centenary with family.
Born in Ipswich, the great-grandmother was a lady’s maid in Suffolk and helped out on a farm in Wickham Market. She was married to Charlie who died in 1989 and her son Michael passed away 27-years-ago.
Her daughter-in-law Betty, of Lakenheath, said: “She’s generous, can tell you stories that have you in stitches, she’s very funny and very sociable. She’s so adaptable to change and makes the best of whatever the situation is.”
