A LARGE turnout and great weather made for a brilliant charity fun day on Sunday at an event organised by Thetford Fire Station.
Around 4,000 people turned up to the event at Breckland Leisure Centre, which included a grand display of fire engines through the decades, as well as more recent models.
There was a large Zumba dance class for those who could take the temperatures which reached up to 28C.
Firefighter Rob Breen said: “We had a really good turnout and acheived everything we wanted to acheive.
“The ethos of the day was very much of bringing the community together and I feel we were successful in that.”
It is predicted that around £2,000 was raised for the firefighters’ charity, Help For Heroes and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Mr Breen said firefighters hoped it would become an annual event and that with extra involvement from organisations in the town it could be even better next time round.
