When Charlotte Carter realised Bury St Edmunds did not have the sort of boutique she likes to shop in, she decided to open her own.

“I’ve always wanted to do it from a young age,” the 27-year-old said. “I’ve researched fashion, gone to fashion shows and always shopped in boutiques.

“I’ve only lived here a few months. I love boutiques and I thought there isn’t anything round here for people my age and and thought it would be a brilliant idea.”

She opened Lou La Bells, named after her daughters Louise, seven, and Bella, 15 months, on Saturday in St John’s Street, selling names like Lovestruck, Dead Lovers, Rock and Religion and Love.

“It’s celebrity inspired fashion and we’ll have unique one-off pieces,” she said. “We’ll always be changing stock.

“Not everyone wants to go round town saying ‘look she’s wearing the same outfit’. People often ask about my clothes and where I got them from.”

She currently stocks sizes eight to 16 but, will begin to stock sizes up to 28 in the next few months.

She plans to have a constantly changing stock of dresses, suits, trousers and jumpsuits, plus bags, shoes and jewellery and to mark the opening will be giving 10 per cent off until the end of August.

Her website is not yet running but the new boutique is @loubelsboutique on Twitter and is at
