Blustery winds in the arc did not deter intrepid fund-raisers for our appeal or the generosity of shoppers who dug deep and raised £230 for the Bury Free Press Beat It appeal.
Former soldiers Mike King and Dan Stevens were joined by Bury Free Press staff at the regular tombola stall outside The Apex.
And the style was distinctly ephemeral as the ex squaddies and BFP staff donned their fairy wings, pink tights and tutus.
Mike, a former member of the Kings Own Royal Border Regiment, regularly raises money for the Breast Cancer Campaign but decided this time to support our appeal. Dan, a former soldier with the Royal Signals, has also been supporting the tombola fund raisers.
Barry Peters, Bury Free Press Editor who donned his wings and tutu for the day, said: “A little bit of embarrassment is worth it and people have been incredibly generous and friendly.”
