The Theatre Royal, in Bury St Edmunds, has launched a 50th anniversay exhibition to celebrate the efforts of others to reopen its doors in 1965.
Barrels, Boards and Brushes tells the story of how Air Vice Marshall Stanley Vincent led a band of dedicated fund-raisers and theatre enthusiasts who were determined to restore the venue after it had been used as a barrel store for four decades.
It also features the chance for visitors to leave their own theatre memories attached to a mannequin to form a ‘costume of memories’. It runs until September alongside the theatre’s regular Guided Tours and Open Doors sessions and can be viewed prior to performances.
