A SPECIAL woodland open day was held in Combs Wood at the weekend to celebrate 50 years of the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
The Stowmarket branch of the trust celebrated its anniversary with a free fun-filled activity day in the heart of the woods on Saturday.
Children and families were invited to take part in face painting, storytelling and arts and crafts.
Knowledgeable trust volunteers were also on hand to give guided walks through Combs Wood, in Stowmarket, and to teach people about different species and how the wood is managed.
For a quieter day in the sunny countryside, visitors could also enjoy walks along the family wildlife trail and picnics under the shady tree canopy.
The Suffolk Wildlife Trust cares for 52 nature reserves in the county and aims to safeguard habitats and species. For more information go to www.suffolkwildlifetrust.org
