Rain shortage
A SHORTAGE of wet weather continued this month after Bury St Edmunds experienced its driest January in five years.
Despite heavy rainfall in the first week of the month, only 0.9mm fell over the following 13 days.
That meant a total of 44mm of rain over the entire month, the lowest figure since 2006 when just 15mm of rain fell.
The shortfall has led to fears over future droughts, with the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust issuing a warning over low levels of rainfall this week.
