GROUND has been broken on an £850,000 regneration project in Thetford – the first of a new era of development in the town.

William Nunn, leader of Norfolk County Council, grabbed a spade with Thetford town councillors Pam Spencer, Mike Spencer and Thetford town manager Susan Glossop to begin improvements to the Haling Path.

Due to be completed by March, the works will come at a cost of about £850,000, with £600,000 coming from the Moving Thetford Forward funding pot and £250,000 from the county council.

Cllr Nunn said: “The Haling Path has been in need of improvement for some time so it is great that the Moving Thetford Partnership has been able to fund these works to begin.”

The work will include the clean up of the path and creation of a piled wall.
