A council looks set to make a return on an investment in solar panels after the devices made £53,949 net income in their first year.
St Edmundsbury Borough Council fitted the solar photovoltaics last year to six buildings including West Suffolk House to cut energy use and carbon emissions as well as produce income from feed-in tariffs. They cost £570,496.
The systems ‘appear to be on track to meet the return on investment and CO2 savings’ according to a report to be presented to the sustainable development working party on Tuesday. They saved 91 tonnes in CO2.
