MID Suffolk District Council is appealing for information after a mysterious incident which left a trail of paper waste stretching for more than three miles.

Eight bags full of rubbish were collected along the roadside of the B1113 from Gipping Way, in Stowmarket, to Coddenham Road, in Needham Market, after the rubbish was dumped last Sunday night.

The rubbish, which appeared to be shredded pages from an old telephone directory, was cleared by five council workers who had to be taken off of usual collection and clearing duties to carry out the extra work.

It is illegal to litter and to dump rubbish and Mid Suffolk District Council is appealing to anyone with any information about the incident to contact them on 01449 724946.
