A FRIENDLY couple from Mildenhall are taking a well deserved break – from making tea and coffee.
Mavis Herbert, 82, started helping out at the Mildenhall tea group, which used to meet in the town hall, more than 30 years ago.
By the time the group was moved to the Scout hut, in St Andrew’s Street, Mildenhall, Mrs Herbert was running it twice a week, on a Tuesday and Friday.
And when her husband Jack, now aged 87, retired from work, he started lending a hand, too.
Today the couple are hanging up the tea bags and retiring from their sociable roles.
The tea club has raised £700 for local charities over the years.
Mrs Herbert said: “I shall be sorry because I’ll miss them all,” she said.
