A SUPERMARKET and a construction firm have teamed up to help out on a community project in Bury St Edmunds.

During two days last week, staff from Tesco and a team from RG Carter Projects Ltd, in Bury, helped to clear the garden at the Bury Resource Centre, in Hollow Road, which provides support to vulnerable adults and their family carers.

They also did a spot of painting and built a path to give wheelchair users access to the outside space.

Lynda Osborn, community champion for Tesco, said: “We pruned the courtyard, jet washed it, put new plants in and put on a buffet for all the residents and helpers. The path especially will make a huge difference because those in wheelchairs couldn’t get into the garden before.”

Tesco, having recently finished some refurbishment, also donated some table and chairs from its staff restaurant and customer cafe to the Centre, while others went to Air Training Corps 301 Squadron and Fitzoy, a learning disability charity, both in Bury.
