An embargo on further development in Red Lodge due to concerns over the capacity of the sewage network should be lifted, suggests a report seen by the Bury Free Press.

An update on an independent study into the capacity of the sewerage network and wastewater treatment facilities in the village concludes that the embargo, which stretched until 2021, is no longer appropriate.

Anglian Water upgraded systems in the village last year.

The report, conducted by Hyder Consulting, states that its recommendation is based upon information received to date and may change.

A plan to build up to 374 homes in the village is being considered by Forest Heath District Council.

A spokesperson for the council said: “We are currently considering the implications of the report for the current planning application.”
