Tower ward candidates in the forthcoming Suffolk County Council elections will be making their pitch and answering questions on Monday (22) night at the Newbury Community Centre in St Olaves Road, Bury St Edmunds.

It has been organised by the Howard Estate Association of Residents and Tenants (HEART) and starts at 7.45pm.

Candidates will share the same platform facing the electorate.

Each will be given three minutes to address the meeting which will then be followed by general questions from those present.

HEART chairman Ernie Broom said: “It should be a very rewarding experience for all concerned.

“I remember as a youngster listening to prospective candidates electioneering standing on a soap box with a huge crowd gathered around them.

“We didn’t agree with all that they said but we knew what they stood for and they got to meet the people.

“We hope that this meeting will have the same effect.”
