A COMMUNITY garden has been given a new lease of life by an industrious youth project team.

The 11 members of the Prince’s Trust Team Programme levelled, planted, and returfed the 350 square metre garden at Thetford Fire Station, handing it back last Friday.

Fay Crangle, team leader, said the team members, aged from 16 to 23, had also raised more than a £1,000 to carry out the work as part of their 12-week course.

“The guys had a plan after being briefed by the station manager and they pulled it off after a lot of hard work,” she said.

After raising £500 themselves, team members pitched to B&Q in Thetford for help and it contributed another £500.

Q Lawns also supplied £400 of turf free of charge.
