OOMPA-Loompas, Big Friendly Giants and Matildas descended on schools for a chapter of Roald Dahl themed fund-raising.
Inspired by the celebrated author’s work, pupils and staff at St Edmundsbury primary and St James’ middle schools, in Bury, donned colourful costumes for the Dahlicious Dress Up Day.
The event was in aid of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, which helps seriously ill children with lifelong neurological and blood disorders.
At St Edmundsbury, which raised £90, Key Stage Two pupils wrote stories based on his books and read them to younger children. The school also held a cake sale.
Children at St James Middle amassed £433.
n Meanwhile, St James has received £150 worth of WH Smith vouchers after staff at the Bury store nominated the school as one of the beneficiaries of the WH Smith Trust Schools Giveaway.
