An 18-year-old school pupil has received a top award for her peer counselling and mentoring.
Harriet Clapp, who studies at Culford School, was presented with the Rotary International accolade for ‘Service above Self’ during a ceremony at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.
She has volunteered as a peer counsellor since 2010 - helping to establish and run a peer counselling service which supports and mentors pupils.
Deemed Rotary’s highest honour for individual Rotarians, the award recognises exemplary humanitarian service.
Joss Williams, deputy head, said: “Over the last two and a half years, the pupils of Culford School have been quietly and compassionately served by Harriet Clapp.
“I know she would say that she receives this award in some ways on behalf of her whole team, but it is to her tireless work in particular that this award deservedly pays tribute.”
