Rosemary Musker High School, Thetford

A Thetford school is celebrating a good Ofsted report, just two years after coming off special measures.

Rosemary Musker High School's headteacher, staff and governors were identified as the main factors behind its improvement.

Inspector John Mitcheson said in his report: "The improvements are a direct result of good leadership by the headteacher, his senior team and governors.

"They have been effective in transforming the culture and ethos of the school where students are demonstrably proud of their school, feel valued and are able to make progress."

Headteacher John Lucas said he was delighted with the report, which found the overall standard of education was 'satisfactory' but 'much improved'.

He added: "Over the past few years, staff, governors and students have worked to develop a school of which we can be proud and it is clear that

these developments are having a positive impact upon the lives of our students.

"This was made very clear to the inspection team, who were particularly struck by the pride and confidence of our students, who spoke about their school with maturity and honesty.

"It is also very pleasing that the report makes note of the good relationships, excellent celebrations of achievement, improved curriculum and the high level of commitment shown by teachers and support staff."

He added: "To have 19 out of 26 judgments in the main school graded as 'good' is a really strong foundation upon which we can build for the future – which we have already started to do.

"This will be supported by our designation as a specialist technology school from September 2008.

"I would like to thank all students, colleagues, parents and governors for their support in helping our school progress over the past two years."
