PUPILS donned crowns and dressed as kings to celebrate the Epiphany last week.

The children at St Edmundsbury Primary School, in Bury, were asked over the festive holidays to make the regal headwear for the event on Friday, which marked the end of Christmas.

They had been learning about the Christian festival since they returned to school, including how it is celebrated in other countries.

The pupils started the day with an assembly led by local church leader the Rev John Parr with readings from Year 4.

Other activities during the day ranged from enjoying King’s cake to carol singing.

Headteacher Jo Lundy said: “They really loved the opportunity to explore and understand an important event.”
