Pupils in the West Suffolk Catholic Schools Pyrmaid designed and modelled emergency shelters during a science, technology, engineering and maths fun day at St Benedict’s School.
About 270 Key Stage 2 students attended the third annual event to build paper tubes and frames for the shelters.
They also tested materials which could be used as covers.
The event was organised by Michael Drugan, head of DT, and Fiona Green, head of science at St Benedict’s.
He said: “The aim was to teach them about what people’s basic needs would be in the event of a natural disaster. They were looking at structures, triangulation, construction and assembly.”
