THE pupils of a primary school have shown their support for the family of a dead US airman after a fund-raising effort.
Pupils at Lakenheath Community Primary School raised £100 in a cake sale to help the children of Senior Airman Nicholas J Alden who was killed in a shooting in Frankfurt on March 2.
Emma Vincent, headteacher, said the links that the school shared with the base – 25 per cent of pupils are American – helped them to understand the tragic events in Frankfurt.
“We have done a lot of work in assembly, the children have written letters of support and I think they can see what has happened and wanted to help,” she said.
A cheque was handed over to Lt Col. Michael Ross, 48th Security Forces Squadron commander, at a special assembly last Friday.
