Praise for welcoming school
An inclusive and welcoming village school has been rated as good by Ofsted inspectors
Inspectors last month, visited Woolpit Primary School and found pupils made good progress because they were taught well and academic development was carefully monitored.
"All pupils are warmly welcomed and fully included.
"The well-planned curriculum, based around exciting themes, helps teachers to provide their pupils with lessons designed to capture their imagination while giving plenty of practice in developing the basic skills of literacy and numeracy," said the report.
Inspectors also praised pupils' good personal development and well-being and the strong family atmosphere that permeated all aspects of the school's work which they said stemmed from very effective promotion of pupils' social awareness through the excellent care, guidance and support provided.
But they said the school needed to raise standards and accelerate pupils' progress
Headteacher Anne O'Connell said: "We were really pleased with the report. It reflects well on the whole community - it was a team effort."
