Wendy Smith paralympian who visited Bacton Middle School

Bacton Community Middle School have launched an Olympic inspired programme after receiving £1,400 in grant funding.

The school is one of the first in Suffolk to take up the ‘Be the best you can Be’ programme which sees children

To launch the programme Paralympian Wendy Smith visited the school to share her story of success after being injured in an horrific motorbike accident. After receiving life changing spinal injuries, Wendy fought back to represent Great Britain at wheelchair basketball in Athens.

Headteacher Alison Nicholson said: “I am delighted that Bacton Community Middle School will undertake the ‘Be the best you can BE’ programme. Meeting Wendy Smith was inspirational and I believe the benefits of this programme will enhance and further underpin the pupil’s apirations.

“I am expecting this initiative to make BCMS even more successful.”
