Scores of mums descended on Cockfield Primary School to share afternoon tea with pupils in the culmination of a focus on ethical trading.

Pupils have been learning about Fairtrade over the last two weeks and cooked cakes made from the foundation’s products to serve at the event to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Over the last fortnight, pupils have explored geography, written letters to shopkeepers to persuade them to stock products, written poems and learnt songs.

Head Emma Nicholson said: “Pupils always work better when there is purpose and context in their work and this is one of those examples.”
