A SINGLE mother of four has been instrumental in creating a DVD for one of Bury St Edmunds’ much-loved choirs.

Andrea Healy, a mature student at West Suffolk College was last year approached to work alongside St Edmundsbury Male Voice Choir to produce a choral music DVD, titled Men at Song

Mrs Healy, who previously worked as a music teacher, before deciding to take a Foundation Degree in Music Production through University Campus Suffolk, has been commuting from her Lowestoft home to the college to take the course.

Working alongside second year level 3 media production students at the college, she faced a tough recording schedule to meet the choir’s deadline and complete the recording at Great Barton Church.

She said: “Working with the other students was great as they were all so well driven towards the project”.

Stephen Cook, vice-chairman of the choir ,said: “it was a fantastic experience for us to work with these enthusiastic and dedicated students. We were very impressed with the way they set about a very complex task and the end product really does give a flavour of what our choir is like”.

Copies of the Men at Song DVD, priced £10, are avaliable from Stephen Cook, at Churchgate Books, Bury St Edmunds
