PUPILS have learnt that maths plus hard work equals success during a week of numerically themed activities at their school.
Children at St Edmund’s Catholic Primary enjoyed visits from an array of professionals, who spoke about how they use maths in the work place and staged a number of events.
The week aimed to raise the positive profile of maths and demonstrate how their learning relates to the wider work place.
Visitors included representatives from NatWest and Barclays, Tesco and the Bury Sports Partnership. Meanwhile, Lloyds TSB organised a number of activities relating to their national sports week.
John Stebbing Architects brought in scale rulers and drawings and encouraged the children to create a street scene. Katie Copeman, maths subject leader, said: “The children were amazed and surprised at the number of places where maths occurred.”
