THEY may hail from a different continent, but four Canadian teachers are feeling right at home in Thetford.
Chanda Rose, 22, Alex Cox, 22, Dan Brown, 22, and Samantha Renaud, 23, were appointed at Thetford Academy in August to take up their first teaching jobs – 3,700 miles from their Thunder Bay homes in Canada.
The quartet say they are settling in well and the students are keeping them on their toes.
Ms Rose, an English teacher, said: “We all wanted to try something new and it was tough getting a job in Canada.
“The students have a great sense of humour, they are very witty and outgoing.”
Cathy Spillane, headteacher, said spending a small amount extra to get the four over had been well worth it.
“It’s an adventure for them to come here but at the same time they are doing a great job. The children really relate to them,” she said.
