Competition gives students inspiration

HOSPITALITY students at West Suffolk College, in Bury St Edmunds, have competed in the first heat of a national competition to inspire and educate young people in the industry.

Six teams, consisting of a chef and front of house staff, took part in the first heat of A Passion to Inspire, in Zest the Restaurant and the college’s training kitchens on Wednesday.

Two pairs will be going through to the final at Colchester Institute in April – Ben Desira, from Stowmarke,t and Jake Wilson, from Sudbury, and Mia Claydon and Jodie Gardiner, both from Sudbury.

Lead judge Paul Foster, from Tuddenham Mill, said: “It’s wonderful to see the potential here at the college – it has been a great standard.”
