Combs Ford Primary School
The headteacher of a village school has spoken of his delight after it received top marks from Ofsted inspectors.
Russel Clark took over as headteacher of Combs Ford Primary School just under a year ago.
The 37-year-old chose the school for its already good reputation and further potential and said the report from Oftsed had confirmed his views.
"When I made the decision to apply to come to this school, it was because it was a school that had a lot going for it and this report has just verified that decision for me. It is excellent news," he said.
He commended his staff and management team, who were praised by inspectors for their 'good teaching' and 'well-planned' lessons.
Mr Clark also praised the work of staff who had moved on, including former headteacher Alan Shoote.
He said: "A lot of positive things have been highlighted and our approach to things at the moment is very strong, but we must not forget that this credit must also go to those teachers and headteacher who are no longer here, who helped to make this school what it is today."
Ofsted described the school as a 'good' and 'happy school where pupils are enthusiastic about learning and enjoy a wide range of activities'.
The report also noted the 'excellent support for pupils with learning difficulties, enabling them to make outstanding progress'.
To improve the school further, inspectors recommended pupils were given more challenging work to reach higher levels in mathematics and improving the quality of marking and feedback to students.
