Closure notices

STATUTORY notices are to be published to close three schools.

Suffolk County Council’s cabinet rubber-stamped plans which would see Beyton, Blackbourne and Ixworth Middle Schools close in 2014.

The proposals are part of a move to two-tier schooling in the Thurston area, which education bosses say will improve standards.

Councillors also approved notices to allow community schools to take on extra year groups.

The documents will be published early next month.

A six-week consultation period will follow in which representations can be made to the county council.

The cabinet will then be asked to determine the notices within two months.
