Charles Burrell Humanities School's delight at Ofsted report
A Thetford secondary school has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for making improvements in many areas.
Charles Burrell Humanities School, which caters for pupils aged 11-18, was rated as good or satisfactory in every department following a recent inspection.
The school curriculum, care, guidance and support and leadership and management were all rated 'good' and recognition was given to the school's English department, which is well-staffed and where pupils' progress is good.
Nancy Robinson, headteacher, said: "We are delighted. The report confirmed our own evaluation that we are now good in many areas and at least satisfactory in others and we also have a good capacity to continue to improve.
"We will now use this firm foundation to continue to move the school on to become outstanding."
The school was last inspected in 2006, where attendance and the standards attained by pupils were deemed to be 'inadequate'.
Pupils' attendance and behaviour have improved but inspectors say more still needs to be done.
