A series of drop-in events are being held to get public opinion on Forest Heath’s plans for its Mildenhall hub and the growth of towns and villages in the district.

Public consultation on the proposed Sheldrick Way hub, comprising schools, library, leisure facilities, police and fire stations and offices for the council, Job Centre and Citizens’ Advice, will run until April 25, but on April 6 there is a drop-in event on the development brief. It will be from 3.30pm to 8pm at The Pavillion in Recreation Way.

Leader of Forest Heath District Council, Cllr James Waters said: “This is an ambitious project, the first of its kind in the country. The idea of the development brief is to identify what issues we will need to address whether it is infrastructure improvements or other concerns, in order to make this project work for the benefit of local residents.

The brief can be seen at www.westsuffolk.gov.uk/mildenhallhub or at the Forest Heath District Council offices in College Heath Road, Mildenhall.

Two days later a series of events begin to get views on the number of homes proposed for towns and villages in the district until 2031. The consultation runs betwen April 4 and June 8.

They are 4pm - 7pm, unless otherwise stated, at: April 8, Brandon Library; April 12, council offices, College Heath Road, Mildenhall; April 16, 10am - 1pm, Newmarket Guineas Shopping Centre; April 19, Kentford Public House; April 21, Lakenheath Peace Memorial Hall; April 26, Red Lodge Sports Pavilion; April 28, Newmarket Memorial Hall; May 3, West Row Village Hall; May 18, Exning Community Hall; May 12, 10am - 1pm, Brandon Market; May 20, 10am - 1pm, Mildenhall Market; May 24, Beck Row Community Centre.
