Driver seriously injured in collision with tree

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious car collision in Wetherden.

The ambulance service contacted police at 2.50pm today reporting there had been a single vehicle crash in Old Bury Road where a car had hit a tree.

Emergency services, including the Air Ambulance attended the scene and the male driver of the car, believed to be a teenager, was air lifted to Addenbrookes hospital.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 2.41pm dispatching a volunteer BASICs doctor, ambulance, paramedic officer and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

“A man in his late teens has been airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital suffering serious and potentially life threatening injuries.”

The road remains closed while officers carry out a collision investigation.
