The judges had a difficult job to do at the Annual Show run by Hartest & District Gardening Club this year.

With nearly 300 entries from 35 exhibitors, competiton was fierce, particularly in the Vegetable, Craft and School sections. But eventually decisons were made, and Peter Webb had the most success, winning trophies for the Vegetable and Grown Flower sections, and ultimately getting the most points over all sections.

John Garrett had the most points in the Fruit, and his apples were the Best Exhibit.

Mary Wrighton's Pot Plant was the Grown Flower Best Exhibit. Flower Arrangements was won by Joy Short and Handicrafts by Pat James. Lilly Elms won the Children’s Shield and Patricia Tebbit retained the Silver Salver for the Produce and Cookery section for the 15th year in succession.

The School Shield has to be shared between Karine, whose picture won on artistic merit, and Alice, whose cartoon made the judges laugh!
