A woman was seriously injured in a five-vehicle crash in Stoke Ash on Saturday.

Police, fire and ambulance were called to the A140, near the White Horse Inn, shortly before 9.30pm.

A police spokeswoman said a yellow tractor pulling an empty trailer had collided with four cars. A grey VW Golf involved in the accident then collided with a tree.

The man driving the VW Golf sustained a fractured collar bone and whiplash, while his passenger sustained serious injuries of a fractured femur, head injury and abdominal injury.

She was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, where she remains in a serious condition.

The man driving the tractor received a puncture wound to his back and bruising, and his female passenger sustained bruising.

Drivers and passengers in a black Audi A7, silver Mini Cooper and grey Honda Civic all sustained minor injuries.

The road was closed while the accident was investigated and re-opened around 9am on Sunday.

Anyone who witnessed crash or saw any of the vehicles before it happened is asked to call police on 101 quoting CAD 436 of Saturday’s date.
