HUNDREDS of people lined the streets to cheer, applaud and pay their respects at a homecoming parade for troops who have served in war-torn Afghanistan.
The crowds were out in force in Bury St Edmunds town centre for the event on Saturday January 15, which featured about 170 members of 1 Squadron RAF Regiment, from RAF Honington.
The airmen returned home in November after a six month tour at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province.
Group Captain Andrew Hall, who is the new station commander at RAF Honington, said: “It was most reassuring to see the people of Suffolk and beyond standing shoulder to shoulder.
“The day was most important in identifying the achievements of 1 Squadron and their families as they have served exceptionally well on operations.”
