Town surgery hit by wheelchair theft

BOSSES at a doctor’s surgery have hit out at thieves who have stolen one of their wheelchairs.

Judy Smith, practice manager at Angel Hill Surgery, in Bury St Edmunds, says the chair was snatched between last Wednesday and Thursday.

She is now appealing for anyone who has seen the chair, which is used by patients on a daily basis, to come forward.

Mrs Smith said: “I’m incensed about it as it’s very useful.

“This one was for the ground floor. We’ve got another one up on our first floor which we can utilise if necessary but the idea is to have them on separate floors.

“It causes a lot of inconvenience for our patients as it was used to help them from their cars in to the surgery.

“It was also used by a member of staff but she retired on Friday. We couldn’t use it then either.

“It’s very uncaring and it will probably end up in a car boot sale somewhere.

“Patients have said that it’s disgusting and just don’t believe why someone would take it.”

They have put up posters in the surgery appealing for the chair. Anyone with information should contact the surgery on (01284) 753008.
