FIVE Thetford men have been arrested after a violent incident in a nightclub in Bury St Edmunds last weekend.
Several men suffered head and facial injuries after a violent disturbance at Brazilias nightclub, on Station Hill, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Six men, including five from Thetford, were arrested and taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Two 21-year-old men and a 20-year-old man, from Thetford, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
Two other men, both 22-year-olds from Thetford, were arrested, one on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place and for violent disorder and the other on suspicion of assault causing ABH, violent disorder and possession of cocaine.
A 31-year-old man from Bury was also arrested following the incident. This was on suspicion of violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.
All were released on police bail to return to Bury Police Station next month.
Two days earlier, police were called to another nightclub on Station Hill, after a woman was assaulted and knocked unconscious by a man outside the toilets in Vision.
Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident which took place around 3am on Friday.
A police spokeswoman said: “Both these incidents are being treated as isolated. We are working closely with the staff at the clubs to investigate these incidents, in which it’s fortunate no-one was seriously injured.
“Officers will be on patrol in the town centre and around pubs and clubs as usual this weekend to deal with any disorder and provide help and assistance.”
