A man who took part in an early morning robbery has been jailed.
Daniel Dale, 23, was among four masked men involved in the Oaks Road, incident in Bury St Edmunds last August.
On Friday at Ipswich Crown Court, Dale of Gannet Close, Haverhill, was jailed for three years and nine months after pleading guilty to robbery and attempted robbery. He was also ordered to pay £120 victim surcharge.
The court heard that Marco Reid and Jamie Smith were attacked by two men as they walked home from work shortly before 2.30am. Mr Reid was ordered to hand over his wallet and rucksack which contained a silver watch with a lock of his mother’s hair inside, said Richard Kelly prosecuting.
Two other men arrived and joined in the attack, one threatening to stab Mr Reid.
A bottle was smashed over Mr Reid’s head and Mr Smith was punched repeatedly in the face and kicked.
Police officers stopped a car driven by Dale and recovered the watch from the glovebox.
Defending, Lindsay Cox said Dale denied making demands for money and regretted his involvement.
