A MAN who illegally dumped plasterboard and insulation materials has been ordered to pay a total of just over £1,000 by magistrates.
Ian Houghton,55, of St John’s Street,Beck Row pleaded guilty to two offences of depositing unlawful waste behind a building site at Rougham Hill, Bury St Edmunds.
His vehicle was identified with the help of CCTV and on Thursday he was fined a total of £500 at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court and ordered to pay £497 prosecution costs and a victim surcharge of £15.
He told the court he had dumped the waste in ‘a moment of desperation’ and that this had been a ‘stupid mistake’. He apologised to the court.
