Man charged with gross negligent manslaughter after accident in Kennett is due in court

A 48-year-old man has been charged with gross negligent manslaughter following an industrial accident in Kennett earlier this year.

Michael Turner, of Earls Colne, Colchester, was released on bail after being charged and is due to appear at Cambridge Magistrates Court tomorrow (November 28).

Police were called to reports that a man had died in an industrial accident at a property in Station Road, Kennett, on May 20.

Robert Bird, 57, of Mersey Road, Colchester, died from severe multiple traumatic injuries after falling from a roof he was working on.

A joint investigation into his death is being carried out by police and the Health and Safety Executive.
